Running from June through July, registered kids of all ages can pick up a custom made wood car kit any time at the Makerspace, build and decorate it, and race their creations at the scheduled events on the calendar. The top three racers at each event take home a trophy!

Snacky Science

Snacky Science is a hands-on program for kids ages 6 and up where learning meets tasty fun! Explore STEAM concepts through creative, snack-based experiments—then enjoy eating your results. It’s the perfect mix of curiosity, creativity, and delicious discovery!

Allergy Alert: Ingredients may include or come into contact with common allergens such as milk, soy, wheat, nuts, or peanuts. Parents/caregivers must remain with their child(ren) for the duration of the program and are encouraged to help younger children with the activity.

Out & About Storytime

Out & About Storytime takes storytime on the road! In place of our traditional STEAM Storytime, join Miss Kayli as she visits different parks around the city for a fun outdoor storytime experience. Geared for all ages, this program is perfect for the whole family!

We’ll begin with an interactive guessing game that encourages color recognition, opposite vocabulary, animal sounds, and movement skills. Then we’ll sing songs, read stories together, and end with open-ended playtime and sensory exploration. We believe children learn best through self-directed play and hands-on experiences, so activities may include water tables, messy play, and nature-based exploration.

Please bring sunscreen and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty or wet.

We’ll kick things off by practicing colors in Spanish—making language learning playful, engaging, and perfect for the whole family.

Live-Action Pac-Man

Get ready for a life-sized twist on a classic game! In Live-Action Pac-Man, players become Pac-Man and the ghosts, navigating a real-world course, collecting “dots,” and trying to avoid being tagged. It’s fast-paced, active fun that brings the arcade to life at the library!

Explore the science of extreme cold and colorful chemical reactions in this exciting hands-on STEM program! Learn about the states of matter using water, dry ice, and liquid nitrogen during an “Arctic Blast” demonstration, then create your own colorful density tube and mini lava lamp using oil, water, and color tabs. Full of experiments, discovery, and wow moments, this program makes science fun and interactive for curious learners of all ages. (Density tube lab is best suited for children aged 5 & up.)
